BetterDay or Factor? A Calgary kitchen and a national one
People ask us about Factor all the time, so here is a straight answer, including the parts where Factor wins.

The short answer
Factor is a national ready-meal service with a bigger weekly menu, keto and calorie lines, and courier delivery across most of Canada. BetterDay cooks in northeast Calgary, our own team delivers every Sunday, and you can order a single week with no plan.

Every Factor fact below comes from factormeals.ca as we read it on October 27, 2026, linked at the bottom so you can check it yourself. Things change, so their site is always the final word on Factor.

Where Factor wins
Range, for a start. Factor's site lists 40+ meals a week and more than 20 add-ons like breakfast and drinks. It has lines built around a goal, such as Keto, Calorie Smart and Protein Plus. If you eat keto, Factor has a whole menu for it and we do not.
It also offers a free 20-minute call with one of its registered dietitians, which is a genuinely nice thing to have.
Its meals last longer in the fridge. Factor gives 6 to 10 days for most meals and 4 to 8 for seafood, so one delivery can stretch further into the week.
And it reaches further. Factor ships to Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba and the Atlantic provinces by courier, between 8 AM and 8 PM on delivery day. If you split your time between Calgary and Toronto, one account covers both.

Where we fit better
We are one kitchen in northeast Calgary, and Chef Bre's team cooks every BetterDay meal there. Factor's FAQ says its meals are designed by a team in Mississauga and that it is part of the HelloFresh Group.
Our own team brings your meals every Sunday, across Calgary, Airdrie, Chestermere, Cochrane, Okotoks, Canmore, Edmonton and a few towns around them. You get the whole week on the day most people plan it.
You can order just one week. No plan, no subscription, pick what you like and that is it. Factor's offers sign you up to an auto-renewing subscription you can cancel online. Our weekly plan is there if you want it, and you can skip, pause or cancel before cutoff.
Most of our dishes come both ways, meat or plant-based, every week. The Halifax Hero Donair Bowl has a twin, the Halifax Hero Veggie Donair Bowl, so a household with a vegan and a meat eater can order the same dinner. We started as a plant-based kitchen, so the veggie side is never an afterthought.

Same kitchen, same chefs, same delivery. New name, and a reason for it.
- 02 / In the kitchenA customer sent us photos to ask if her chicken was chicken
She had ordered the plant-based version. She could not tell. The reason is more interesting than the mix-up she thought she had found.
- 03 / In the kitchenWhy the heck does Halifax have the donair?
A city council vote that ended in a tie, a sauce that is nearly pie filling, and a $16,025 costume. I had no idea about any of it.
