Garlic.
The bulb that arrives with its own built-in segments.
Garlic is a bulb, and it belongs to the same plant family as onions, leeks and chives. Each bulb is made of separate cloves wrapped in papery skin. Every clove can be planted on its own and grow into a whole new bulb.
Garlic is nearly odorless until you cut or crush it. Damaged cells let two compounds meet, and they react to make the sharp smell we know. That is why a whole clove is mild and a minced clove is loud. A little chopping goes a long way.
