Frequently Asked Questions

1. Our Meals

How does your menu rotation work?

Each week, we cook up 6 different rotating entrees + 6 fan-favourite dishes on our core lineup that remain from week-to-week. We have a selection of gourmet ciabattas, healthy breakfasts, and a whole bunch of other goodies to select from, your taste buds are guaranteed to never get bored!

Are your meals fully vegan?

BetterDay offers both omnivore and plant-based meal plans. You can toggle between them at any time using our filters when ordering meals.

If you would like to ONLY view vegan options, you can add an "Allergy" directly onto your profile by clicking here.

Are your meals fully gluten-free?

Most of our dishes are gluten-friendly by default (we use ingredients like tamari instead of soy sauce). However, there are cross contamination risks within our kitchen, so we label our meals as gluten-friendly—not certified gluten-free.

How big are your meals?

Each meal ranges from 400–510g—that’s over a full pound of deliciousness per portion.

Are they individual servings?

Yes, all of our meals are large individual portions, not couple or family portions such as meal kits. Each of your meals can be hand-picked individually.

How much protein is in your meals?

We design our meals to include 18g to 45g of protein per serving, with all of the basic macro information found on our website as well as on the meal container itself.

How much sodium is in your meals?

Well the sodium content is not readily displayed with each meal, our meals range from 300 to 1100mg of sodium per large portion. Our Asian stirfries and curries tend towards a 700 to 1100mg range, while our pastas, salads, bowls and western dishes tend towards a 300 to 700mg range.

Can I modify my dishes?

Unfortunately due to the large scale production process of our meals, individual dishes cannot be modified. If you have any allergies or preferences, you can input these into through your client profile, and our system will automatically filter these dishes away from your options.

Can my meals be frozen?

Our pastas, curries and stir fry dishes do freeze quite well, and this information can be found on each dish's container label.

2. Placing My First Order

2. What are my ordering options?

You can order in 3 ways:

  1. Monthly Subscribe + Save plans (flexible, best savings + additional 5% cash back)

  2. Weekly Subscribe + Save plans (flexible + discounted)

  3. One-time Orders (no commitment)

What should I expect?

Once your order is placed, you’ll get delivery updates by the weekend, including a delivery ETA. Meals arrive labeled with fresh-before dates, heating instructions, and macro info. Start with the shortest shelf life meals first for max freshness.

Our meals are all labeled with fresh before dates, heating instructions, and basic macros. We recommend eating the dishes in order to maximize freshness - shortest fresh by dates first, longest dates after.

What are the order cutoff times?

Subscribers must select their meals by end of day Wednesday.

  • One-time orders & new subscriptions must be placed by end of day Thursday to be included in Sunday’s delivery.

3. Our Subscribe + Save Plans

What is Subscribe & Save?

ubscribe & Save is our flexible meal plan program that gives you discounted pricing, access to new menu items, and convenient weekly or monthly deliveries. You’ll save up to 15% and unlock perks like 5% cashback on monthly plans!

Do I have to commit long-term?

Nope! All plans are flexible—pause, skip, or cancel anytime. There’s no long-term contract.

How does it work?

  • Weekly plans renew first thing every Monday morning on a week-to-week basis. Once renewed, you can pick your meals, skip a delivery, or let our system auto-select based on your preferences.

  • Monthly plans are charged once upfront for 4 weeks of meals. Your subscription will automatically renew once all 4 deliveries have been fulfilled.

You’ll only ever be charged for weeks you receive meals. If you're not ready for a delivery, you can either skip a specific week or pause your plan to stop any upcoming renewals.

What if I want to try just once?

You can place a one-time order without starting a subscription—but Subscribe & Save plans offer the best value.

Pausing my renewals

you can pause your account from undergoing future renewals at any time through your "My Subscription" page. You can choose to pause a pre-set amount of time, or pause indefinitely.

4. Subscription: Managing Your Plan

When does my subscription renew?

Weekly plans renew first thing every Monday morning, after you have received your last delivery. Monthly plans renew automatically after your 4th delivery is completed.

Can I pause my subscription?

Yes of course! You can pause your subscription to stop future auto-renewals. Any pre-paid deliveries will remain available to you and can be used once your pause ends. You can pause for a set number of weeks, or indefinitely.

Will pausing my plan also skip upcoming deliveries?

Yes. Any deliveries scheduled within your pause range will now be automatically skipped and deferred to the first available delivery date after your pause ends. You’ll see any affected dates listed during the pause setup.

Can I pause and still receive a delivery during the pause window?

Yes. You’ll see a list of any deliveries inside your pause window—simply uncheck any date if you’d like to keep that delivery.

If I pause indefinitely, do I lose any meals I’ve paid for?

Not at all. Any pre-paid deliveries remain available and can be used once you unpause your subscription. Your account will not be charged again until those credits are used.

5. Subscription: Skipping & Pausing

What’s the difference between skipping and pausing?

Use Skip to skip individual specific deliveries once your plan has renewed. Great for pre-skipping individual deliveries within your pre-purchased monthly plan deliveries.

  • Use Pause to stop your subscription from auto-renewing altogether for a longer break.

Both options will defer your meals to the end of your subscription, and you won’t be charged again until all remaining credits are used.

When can I skip a delivery?

You can skip deliveries as soon as your subscription has renewed and you have an upcoming delivery scheduled. If you don’t see any dates to skip, you may need to wait until your next renewal or pause your plan in the meantime.

Will I be charged for a skipped week?

No. Skipped weeks are deferred to the end of your plan. You’ve already paid for them if your plan has renewed, so no additional charge will occur and your plan will not renew/charge until all outstanding deliveries have been received.

Where can I see and manage skipped deliveries?

You’ll find these in your dashboard under "My Subscription" and on the "Skip Deliveries" page. Deferred deliveries will be listed with the next available delivery date.

Can I skip a delivery after choosing meals?

Yes, as long as it’s before the Thursday 2:00 AM cutoff. After that, meals are already in production.

6. Subscription: Selecting Meals

When do I need to choose my meals?

Meal selections are due by 2:00 AM Thursday for the upcoming Sunday delivery.

If you miss the deadline, your meals will be automatically selected for you based on your saved preferences and allergy profile. If you need to request changes after this time, reach out to our client relations team at hello@eatbetterday.ca and we’ll do our best to assist.

What is the deadline to skip/cancel a delivery

To skip an upcoming delivery, you must do so by end of day Thursday.

After this deadline, meals for that week enter production and are already being prepared for you. Because of this, skipped deliveries cannot be accommodated past the cutoff—and we are unable to offer refunds or credits for unskipped meals.

We do this to keep our kitchen running efficiently, reduce food waste, and ensure the freshest possible meals are delivered to every client. Your support in helping us plan ahead is what makes our system work smoothly for everyone!

If you ever have an emergency or unexpected change after the cutoff, feel free to reach out to our team at hello@eatbetterday.ca and we’ll always do our best to support you.

How far ahead can I choose meals?

You can select meals up to 4 weeks in advance for upcoming deliveries.

If you do not see a full roster of dishes, please wait until the menu has been fully posted for that delivery date.

7. Deliveries

When are your weekly deliveries?

Our deliveries take place every Sunday between 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. We also offer pickup options from a North and South location - pickup details can be found on the checkout page.

Where do you deliver?

We currently deliver across:

  • - Calgary & surrounding areas (Airdrie, Cochrane, Okotoks, Chestermere, Bragg Creek)

  • - Canmore

  • - Edmonton & Sherwood Park

How much does delivery cost?

$7.99 flat rate in Calgary & Edmonton

  • $10–$12 for surrounding towns

What if I won't be home for my delivery?

While we don't have cooler bags as of yet, there are a couple solutions to help:
1. Simply leave a cooler out on your front step or delivery location and our delivery service will leave your delivery inside to stay cold. Please ensure this cooler will be large enough to receive your order as our drivers will not open your sealed bag of meals to arrange within the cooler.
2. If you live in apartment, link up with your concierge service to help you out
3. You can always select to have your meals brought to one of our convenient pickup locations which have long Sunday and Monday hours, making pickup a breeze!

Will I receive delivery notifications?

Yes! We send out day-before ETA notifications so that you can plan your Sunday as best as possible and don't have to be sitting around waiting.

On Sunday, you will receive live-tracking updates and up to date ETA notifications along the way.

What if I need to change my delivery address last minute?

Yes—update it in your dashboard before the Thursday 2:00 AM cutoff.

For urgent changes or for changes after Thursday, email hello@eatbetterday.ca.

8. Our Containers

What kind of containers do you use?

We use two main types of containers depending on the meal:

  • Hot meal trays: Fully compostable base with a thin plastic film seal (trash).

  • Lidded salad containers: Recyclable paper-based bowl with a removable clear plastic lid—perfect for adding dressing, shaking, and enjoying!

Are your containers compostable or recyclable?

Yes—our tray-sealed meal bases are fully commercially compostable, and our salad containers are fully recyclable (base and lid separated). We've reduced our plastic usage by over 95% across all packaging.

Why did you switch to these formats?

Our updated packaging system keeps meals fresher for longer, reduces single-use plastic, and improves your overall experience with resealable, stackable, eco-friendly options.

How should I dispose of each type?

Hot meal trays: Green bin (tray base), Black bin (seal film).

  • Lidded salad containers: Blue bin (paper base & plastic lid, separated).
