OUR STORY

From Sprout Meals to BetterDay

What started in a small kitchen with a few blenders, big dreams, and even bigger prep lists has now grown into something more but the mission hasn’t changed. We originally started Sprout Meals in 2020 with one goal: to make healthy eating easier, more delicious, and more accessible for busy people like us. Back then, it was just the two of us (Conner and Amy), hustling in the kitchen between rocking the baby to sleep and hitting the road for deliveries, trying to bring a little more balance to the table, for ourselves and for others.

Since then, we've delivered over half a million meals, built an in-house team of incredible chefs, and partnered with community organizations to support food access and sustainability across our beautiful province. We’ve stayed rooted in the belief that good food can make your day better, and that everyone deserves a great meal.

BETTER FOOD WITH A BIGGER MISSION

We created BetterDay to meet more people where they are, because healthy eating should feel doable, not overwhelming.

Our meals are fully prepared, thoughtfully sourced, and available in both plant-based and omnivore options. Whether you’re a parent juggling dinners, a student staying on track, a professional balancing a full plate, or someone who just doesn’t want to cook this week, we’re here to support you.

It’s food that fits your life—not the other way around.

High Protein
to Fuel You

Whether you're chasing toddlers, crushing gym sets, our meals are built to fuel you. With both plant-based and meat options, every dish is high in protein, balanced, and designed to keep you going strong.

Pushing for Sustainability

We’re working to champion sustainability in a notoriously wasteful industry—through compostable packaging, local sourcing, and a no-waste kitchen. Progress over perfection, always.

Proudly Plant-Forward

Plant-forward meals are part of our foundation. We believe in the power of plants to nourish, energize, and reduce our environmental impact, so we make it easy (and delicious) to choose meals loaded with delicious veggies that are better for your body and the planet.

Rooted in our Community

We believe in lifting up the people around us. That means partnering with local producers, making healthy meals more accessible, and supporting organizations that nourish those who need it most. Good food should bring everyone to the table.

Our Food Philosophy

We believe better days start with better food. That means real ingredients you can recognize, bold flavours you’ll crave, and a commitment to quality you can feel good about.

At BetterDay, our meals are:

  • Packed with plants – because more plants means more nutrients, fibre, and feel-good energy.

  • High in protein – with a mix of plant-based and animal protein options to fuel busy lives and active bodies.

  • Made with clean ingredients – no weird preservatives, artificial flavors, or unnecessary fillers.

  • Always real – scratch-made in our own kitchen, using whole foods and seasonal ingredients whenever possible.

We put our heart and soul into building food that works for real people in the real world. Whether you're juggling kids, workouts, deadlines (or all three), we’ve got your back with meals that hit the sweet spot between convenience, nutrition, and straight up enjoyment.

Our Environmental Commitment

The food industry has a waste problem—and we’re not here to contribute to it. From grocery store overstock to produce dying in home fridges, food waste is everywhere. Add to that the mountains of plastic packaging from meal kits and takeout, and it's clear the current system isn’t sustainable.

Since day one, we’ve been doing things differently. Sustainability is built into everything we do, from sourcing and prep to packaging and delivery.

Our goal? To lead the industry forward with real, measurable impact.

Here’s how we’re changing the game:

  • Smart forecasting = less food waste. By cooking to order, we cut down on the massive waste seen in grocery retail and home fridges.

  • Donation, not disposal. Extra meals are donated weekly to local organizations like the Beltline Community Fridge.

  • Compostable packaging. Our in-house tested tray seal system cuts plastic use by 95%—from 40g to just 1.8g per meal.

  • Fully recyclable materials. From paper labels to curbside recyclable film and shipping boxes.

  • Reusable delivery gear. Cooler bags and eco-friendly ice packs are returned and reused to eliminate single-use waste.

  • No excess, no fluff. Unlike many meal kits, we skip theeverything-wrapped-in-plastic approach and keep things minimal.

We’re not perfect, but we’re serious about progress, and we believe the best food choices are the ones that nourish both people and the planet!
